TANAH JAMBU, Thursday, 14 November 2024 – The Intermediate Staff Course (ISC) 20/2024 have concluded a three-week period of the Joint Operations Phase. During the period, the course participants gained an in-depth exposure to key operational frameworks, including the Intelligence Preparation of Battlefield (IPB) and Operational Military Appreciation Process (OMAP), which served as the foundational framework for planning joint operations.
Before delving into OMAP, course participants were provided with a comprehensive understanding of the military structures, roles and contributions by the Land Force, Navy, Air Force, as well as the critical elements of Logistics and Military Law in the context of joint operations. The viewpoints from different Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) gave insight and perspective into the various considerations required when planning joint operations, thus enabling course participants to develop a comprehensive, cohesive and efficient plan.
The phase culminated with syndicate presentations where the course participants presented their final OMAP products during the Decision and Execution Brief. The Joint Operations Phase has not only accentuated their military appreciation sensibilities but also enhanced their confidence in their ability to contribute to joint operations, whilst emphasising teamwork and leadership, thus fostering an environment of collective learning.
