TANAH JAMBU, Friday, 21 November 2025 – The Junior Officer Development Course (JODC) 2/2025 continued its professional military education with the National Security Studies module, which deepened participant’s understanding of Brunei’s historical foundations and security frameworks. The module is designed to strengthen critical thinking and enhance officer’s ability to analyse contemporary security challenges within Brunei’s strategic context. Throughout the week, course participants attended a series of focused lectures, including a two-day programme delivered by distinguished historian Dr. Mohd Rozan bin Haji Mohd Yunos. His sessions highlighted key historical milestones such as the British Protectorate era, Japanese Occupation, the 1962 Rebellion, and the origins of Maqasid Syariah. Complementing these were discussions on Brunei’s post-war developments, the Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) philosophy, Operation OBOE VI, and national defence policy guided by the Defence White Paper 2021. The module also included educational visits to the Borneo Research Centre (penBorneo) and the Brunei History Centre, allowing participants to connect their classroom learning with institutions dedicated to preserving and interpreting Brunei’s national heritage.
