TANAH JAMBU, 27 September 2024 – The Leadership and Management Centre of the Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF) invited esteemed guest speakers from Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) to address the Intermediate Staff Course 24/2024 on the Islamic Leadership Model and theimportance of well-being to develop proficiency in leadership skills.
The two-day program had Colonel (R) Dr. Haji Zahimi bin Zainol Abidin, a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Defence and Management Studies, UPNM delivered a lecture on the importance of Leadership values and practices from an Islamic perspective for individuals to inculcate and achieve a holistic approach towards Leadership. The speaker also covered on the present challenges faced in the context of Islamic Military Leadership and gave insights on leadership values and traits demonstrated by Prophet Muhammad PBUH during battle.
With the global rise on mental health concerns, the course participants of ISC 24/2024 also had the honour of being addressed by Associate Professor Lt Col (R) Dr Ustaz Haji Daud Haji Mohamed Salleh who is also from UPNM. The professor lectured on the significance of spirituality in combat, mental health and well-being including contributing factors in the work environment as well as the actions that can be taken to mitigate.

Overall, the lectures gave the course participants the concept, principles and best practices of Islamic leadership throughout history which can assist in navigating the complexities of modern day challenges by forging the unique qualities expected from an Islamic military leader.
