TANAH JAMBU, 09 May 2025 – During the Week 3 of Junior Officer Development Course (JODC) 01/2025, course participants had the honour of receiving a visit from the First Gentleman of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Prindon Sadriu to the Defence Academy, Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF). The visit provided a valuable opportunity for exposure to high-level international engagement and highlighted the importance of diplomatic presence in fostering global defence cooperation.
Earlier in Week 3, JODC course participants engaged in the International Security Studies module, attending sessions on Security Theories and Concepts as well as the historical background of the South China Sea. These sessions were delivered by the Senior Academic Advisor of the Defence Academy, Royal Brunei Armed Forces, and provided in-depth insights into the evolution of security thinking and the historical and geopolitical complexities of the South China Sea region. The second day featured sessions on International Organisations and Brunei Foreign Policy, delivered by invited speakers from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. These sessions highlighted the role of international institutions and offered a closer look into Brunei Darussalam’s foreign policy priorities and diplomatic positioning on the global stage. To further reinforce the lessons learned, participants engaged in syndicate discussions and delivered group presentations on selected international security issues. These activities encouraged analytical thinking, collaboration, and the practical application of theoretical knowledge.
The International Security Studies module aims to enhance course participant’s understanding of global security frameworks, regional strategic issues, and international diplomatic engagement. This module was designed to develop a strong conceptual foundation in security studies while encouraging critical analysis of real-world challenges.
